THE BALD & THE BEAUTIFUL!

If you come to the next home game you'll find a whole lot more 'Chrome in the Dome'! as the Hitmen held the 2nd annual Hitmen Headshave Event on January 26th.  15 players including Spence, Jones, Letts, Rowinsky, Kalinski, Gillen, Mercer, Plouffe, Frere, Pettersson, Dupont, LeBlanc, Stone, Yeo and Sonne all volunteered to lose their locks to raise awareness for this great cause.

Hitmen staff also joined in as Assistant GM Bernie Banjok, Hitmen staff writer Laurence Heinen, Radio play by play man Brad Curle, Booster Club President Rick Springer, and Ticket Sales guru Kevin McDuff also did battle with the hair clippers and lost.

Booster Club member Tyler Bryk and I also volunteered to raise some money for this good cause, getting new looks in the process.  I had my head shaved courtesy of guest barber ,and Hitmen forward, Brett Sonne...who perhaps took too much pleasure in his new role!  I made sure he did mine before he got his new look... in case revenge was in order.  As it turned out, I didn't need to worry as  Brett proved his hands are as skilled holding the clippers as they are holding a hockey stick...although he did try and get a little too close to the eyebrows!

Several Hitmen fans also participated in the headshave raising over $19,000.00 to be contributed to the Calgary Ironcops/ Calgary Foundation.  The funds facilitate cancer education, support and cancer survivorship.

SIMONE ROWINSKI  with Brendan's Billet LEXIE

HITMEN FAMILIES  COME TO TOWN

After undergoing shoulder surgery this summer, followed by months of physiotherapy, Brendan Rowinski finally got the green light from doctors and Hitmen staff and suited up for his first WHL game on January 28th vs. the Kelowna Rockets.

Brendan's mom, Simone Rowinsky, made the long trek from Winnipeg to watch Brendan do battle against the Rockets.  Simone took in the game with Brendan's billets Lexie & Russ and then got to see Brendan get his head shaved at centre ice!  Now that her boy is healthy, we'll hopefully see a lot more of Simone around the Saddledome.

Also in attendance, all the way from Newport Beach, California was Ryan Letts' parents Rick and Kathleen and Ryan's younger sister.  Unfortunately, due to a lower body injury, Ryan wasn't able to play against the Rockets. Michael Stone's parents also made their way west from Manitoba.  The award for the longest distance traveled for a parent goes to Robin Figren's father who flew over from Sweden to take in a few games.

                         BRETT AND CURTIS SONNE

Brett Sonne's parents, along with little brother Curtis, drove in from Maple Ridge, BC as well.  The timing was great because they got to see Brett score a beautiful goal on January 26th vs. the Brandon Wheat Kings!  It was also Bobble head night so Brett's mom Tammy was also able to score a few ANDREW LADD bobble heads to take back home to Maple Ridge for the Ladd family.  Brett also gave Curtis a tour of the Hitmen dressing room which he was quite excited about.
