Happy Birthday
Boys!
Four more Hitmen turn another
year older this month. Birthday wishes go out to
Robin Figren, Brandon Kozun, Derek LeBlanc and Ryan
White! Whitey's birthday actually falls on St.
Patrick's Day so here's hoping Whitey, our own
little leprechaun, brings us some good luck this
month by way of a first round playoff sweep of those
"ICE ICE babies" from Kootenay!

Last month the Booster Club
hosted a jersey auction on behalf of the Hitmen
organization. Up for grabs was a KARL ALZNER autographed
Team Canada jersey. The lucky winner was Jay
Croteau who generously coffed up$410 for the
collector's item with proceeds going to the Calgary
Hitmen Scholarship Fund. To top off a successful
night, after the game, Jay's boys got a picture with
Karl donning said jersey and flashing his gold medal
to boot!

Hitmen Take It
Into The Alleys!
On February 16th, the entire
Hitmen team battled it out with the Hitmen Booster
Club Members in the alleys of the Deerfoot Bowling
Depot! There was the traditional games... and
... some not so traditional games leaving
many players and members in some interesting, and
sometimes compromising, positions. Karl Alzner
proved that he has a budding future as a pro bowler
while Hitmen forward Brett Sonne proved really he
shouldn't quit his day job as a hockey player.
After endless gutterballs, he was ruthlessly chirped
by players and members alike but, like a true
competitor, Brett vowed to master the art of bowling
in the near future. We look forward to a much
improved performance next year Brett!
Aside from the pizza and pop,
February birthday boys Brodie Dupont and Ryan Letts
along with billet Scott Surridge were surprised with
a large hockey rink themed birthday cake. Canada
Winter Games participants Martin Jones, Mike Stone
and Devon Kalinski were recognized with plaques as
was our aforementioned World Junior Gold Medalist
Karl Alzner. It was a great night out and a big
thanks goes out to Veronica Dean and Karen Greiter
for organizing the event.

Hitmen Go
Looking For Gold in Yukon
Three Calgary Hitmen
represented their home provinces in the 2007 Canada
Winter Games last month. All 3 boys went to medal
games where Martin Jones backstopped Team B.C. to a
fourth place finish while Team Alberta's Devon
Kalinski brought home a bronze and Hitmen defencemen
Mike Stone captured a silver medal for Team
Manitoba. You did us proud boys!

Breaking
Bread With The Hitmen
This season then Hitmen Booster
Club teamed up with EastSide Marios Restaurants
giving lucky fans a chance to have dinner with their
favorite Hitmen player. Fans simply had to vote for
their favorite player at the Booster Club table at
any home game. At the end of each month, the votes
were tallied and 3 players receiving the most votes,
along with 3 fans who voted for one of the 3
players, enjoyed a dinner courtesy of Eastside
Marios. It was a chance for the fans to hang with
their favorite player, get pictures, autographs and
enjoy some light conversation. February winner Dale
Baird enjoyed meeting Brett Sonne up close at
Eastside Mario's Sunridge where fellow teammate
Brodie Dupont entertained all the winners,
graciously sharing his opinion on the state of WHL
officiating.
A couple weeks later Brett and
Ryan Letts were guest waiters at Eastside Marios
Chinook Centre. They got some on the job
training refilling customers' drinks and operating
the fresh parmesan cheese graters. With a little
extra time on their hands, Brett & Ryan decided to
make a special dessert for their captain
Dylan Yeo who was enjoying dinner with his fans.
The boys created a customized sundae which basically
consisted of whipped cream, hot fudge and BUTTER!
While Brett & Ryan hid behind the counter as a
waitress delivered the surprise to Dylan, the joke
backfired as Dylan actually liked the treat... even
though there was no ice cream. Yeo did however
decide that retribution was still in order and
promised payback at practice the next day.
It seems like we just had the
first dinner only a month ago and "Budda Boom
Budda Bing", six dinners later, we have wrapped
up the promotion for this year. We look forward to
doing it all again next season. Thanks for your
support Eastside Mario's!
Well, that's it for this
month. The Hitmen hit the road travelling to
Cranbrook to battle the Kootenay Ice for the first
round of the WHL playoffs. This is the 10th
consecutive year, the Hitmen have made the playoffs
which is a feat only 2 other teams have accomplished
in WHL league history.
